Candidate Filing for the 2024 Municipal Election

The City of Waynesville has come alive in the last couple of years with new business, new festivals and a new sense of pride in the community. If you are looking to be a part of an amazing team that is focused on the City's future while always highlighting and remembering her past, then the Waynesville City Council is just the home for you!
Candidate Filing for the 2024 Municipal Election will open on December 5th at 8:00am with the following seats up for election:
Mayor - 4 Year Term
Council Seat Ward I - 2 Year Term
Council Seat Ward II - 2 Year Term
Council Seat Ward III - 2 Year Term
Council Seat Ward III - 1 Year Unexpired Term
Council Seat Ward IV - 2 Year Term
Candidates who are interested in running for Mayor must have lived within the City limits for a period no less than two (2) years and be thirty (30) years of age at the time of filing.
Candidates who are interested in running for a Council seat must have lived within the City limits for a period no less than one (1) year, with six (6) months of that time being spent in the Ward they are running for. Candidates must be no less than 21 years of age at the time of filing.
Citizens will have from the 5th of December to the 16th of December, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 5pm in order to file. Please note that December 22nd and December 25th will be the only days filing will not be available due to the closure of City Hall for the Holidays.
